Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago head women's swimming and diving coach Paul Moniak has signed Kristen Cichocki (Palos Hills, Ill./Stagg) and Jenny Gessford (Decatur, Ill./St. Theresa) to National Letters of Intent, he announced today.

Cichocki is a gifted freestyle swimmer who has clocked best times of 24.50 (100-yard freestyle), 54.64 (100-yard freestyle) and 2:01.00 (200-yard freestyle).

"Kristen will add more depth to our freestyle events," Moniak said. "We are excited about her potential."

Gessford has also shown excellence in the freestyle events, and also has the ability to diversify her events.

"Jenny is a good freestyler, but she is versatile in that she can go out and swim all four strokes," said Moniak.

    Gessford has personal-bests of 24.71 (50-yard free), 55.22 (100-yard free) and 2:00.95 (200-yard free).
