Chicago, Ill. - Second-year University of Illinois at Chicago head swimming and diving coach Paul Moniak, along with veteran diving coach Larry Barcheski, continued to upgrade the Flames stock, as they announced today the signing of diver Tara Goodwin of Lockport, Illinois and Lockport High School to a National Letter of Intent.

The Flames lost two dominating divers to graduation this past season and the addition of Goodwin will help to fill that void left vacant by departed standouts Andrea Bove and Shannon Joseph.

Goodwin excelled on the one-meter board this past season, as she finished 16th at the 2001 IHSA State Finals. She is also the Lockport High school-record holder in the one-meter event for six dives.

Goodwin was a well-rounded athlete for the Porters, also competing in gymnastics and badminton, where she finished fourth in the 2002 IHSA State Finals.

She joins already signed incoming freshmen Laura Martensen (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) and Aisha Williams (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis) as newcomers for the 2002-2003 Flames.
