Chicago, Ill - The growth of the UIC swimming and diving program can be shown by the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes on the squad.

On Sunday, head coach Paul Moniak and his staff recognized the outstanding achievements of the Flames aquatics program.

The Men's Swimmer of the Year was Enric Claret, who battle back from shoulder surgery to impress at the Horizon League Championships.

The Women's Swimmer of the Year went to freshman Laura Martensen, who came on strong in her rookie campaign to pace the Flames in the distance free events. She was also named the Women's Newcomer of the Year.

Obvious choices for Diver of the Year went to Caitlin Carey and Michael Magee. Carey paced the women's squad, while Magee finished off an exciting career where he was named the conference's diver of the year on two occasions.

The Men's Newcomer of the Year went to rookie LeRoy Stevens, who emerged out of a stable of talented rookies to finish well all season long.

Chris Kaczor and Ari Bernstein were named Most Improved for the men's squad, while Stephanie Donovan and Kim Jagodzinski took the honor for the women's team.
