    CHICAGO – The UIC men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams held their annual awards banquet and brunch at the Holiday Inn – Mart Plaza on Sunday, April 1.  In addition to recognizing the teams’ achievements from the 2011-12 season, the 2012-13 captains were named.

    2011-12 Swimming & Diving Award Winners
    Women
    Newcomer of the Year:
    Marissa Yontz
    Most Improved: Kelsey Millin, Anne Jacobsen, Monica Pinkus
    Swimmer of the Year: Melanie Waszak
    Diver of the Year: Kristi Carling

    Men
    Newcomer of the Year:
    Gabe Cury
    Most Improved: Conor Ozog, John Mordach
    Swimmer of the Year: Daniel Corley
    Diver of the Year: Mike Greco, Woody Lord

    Student-athletes were also honored for achieving a NCAA "B" Qualifying standard during the season.

    Men’s 200 Free Relay: Gabe Cury, Vince Errichiello, Joel Demuth, Daniel Corley
    Men’s 800 Free Relay: Luke Martinez, Daniel Corley, Joel Demuth, Zach Van Swol
    Men’s 400 Free Relay: Joel Demuth, Daniel Corley, Zach Van Swol, Gabe Cury
    Men’s 200 Free: Daniel Corley
    Women’s 100 Breast: Monica Pinkus

    Lastly, head coach Paul Moniak announced the 2012-13 team captains.  Emily Gniatczyk and Melanie Waszak will lead the women’s team, as Josh Jacobson, Mike Greco and Brian Sivak head the men’s squad.
