Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago swimmer Christine Hare was named the Horizon League Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week, it was announced recently.

Hare led the Flames during their winter training trip to Florida, as the sophomore won the 100-meter freestyle in 1:04.88 at the 400 and 100 Meter Meet held at the Swimming Hall of Fame Complex in Fort Lauderdale last week.

UIC was victorious in the quick competition, defeating UW-Milwaukee, La Salle, Boston and Niagara.

Hare and the Flames will be back in action this weekend, as they travel to Illinois State on Friday night for a 6:00 p.m. match-up with the Redbirds. On Saturday, UIC travels to UW-Green Bay, as the league rivals square off beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Wisconsin.
