HONOLULU - The UIC men's and women's swimming & diving teams have been hard at work in Hawaii to prepare for the upcoming seven-week stretch before the Horizon League Championship meet at the Flames Natatorium in Chicago, but they have still had time to add in activities to strengthen team bonding.

After Monday's morning practice and yoga session, the Flames picked up lunch on the way and headed to Pearl Harbor for a tour of the USS Arizona Memorial.  They watched a film on the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor, before taking to the waters to visit the memorial.

In the afternoon, members of the men's and women's teams either went to the local town of Haleiwa for food, shopping and to try Matsumoto Shave Ice, or they went hiking at Kaena Point.

On Tuesday, UIC prepared for a day of doubles, with a morning session at VMAC, dryland at Crossfit Pearl City and a later-than-usual practice at MVDP.  In between their busy schedules, both swimming and diving squads were able to head to Makapu'u Beach to enjoy the view, water and weather.

With two more days left in Hawaii, UIC prepares for its final stretch of training before heading back to Chicago for a meet on Saturday against Green Bay.
