Dec. 28, 2001

Chicago, Ill. - Receiving the necessary endurance training is the critical part of the men's and women's swimming and diving teams' annual John Christie Memorial-Christmas Training Trip.

Last Thursday, however, the Flames managed to get some competition under their belt, as the women competed against Division III schools Lock Haven, Kutztown and the Merchant Marine Academy.

The men faced stiff competition in Ohio State and Pittsburgh.

No team scores were kept, but the women handled their competition with ease, winning eight events in the relay-formatted competition.

The men were held without an event win, but competed favorably considering the Big Ten and Big East competition.

Both squads will get back in the pool on January 11 at 5:00 p.m. when the Flames visit Valparaiso. The next day, both teams will open up their 2002 home slate, welcoming Horizon League foe UW-Green Bay to Flames Natatorium for a 1:00 p.m. affair.
