Chicago, Ill.- Sprint-free wins and a relay victory by both Kelly Hyatt and Andrea Giczewski highlighted the UIC women's swimming and diving team's meet against Saint Louis at the UIC Natatorium on Saturday.

Hyatt edged out teammate Colleen Dougherty to win the women's 50 free in :24.55. Dougherty took a close second in :24.61.

Giczewski earned a win in the 100 free with a time of :53.09.

Both Hyatt and Giczewski rounded out the meet by being the bookends in UIC's winning 400 free relay, teaming with Emily Biancalana and Courtney Eck to place first in 3:39.29.

Freshman Shaina Israel excelled once again for the Flames in the distance events, winning the 1650 free in 18:07.57.

Sarah Economides led UIC in both diving events, coming within 1.05 points of first in the three-meter event.

"We're very pleased with how the team competed today, given all the lingering injuries and illnesses we've had over the last several weeks," said UIC head coach Paul Moniak.

The Flames will travel to West Lafayette, Ind., for the 2006 U.S. Open Championships from November 30th through December 2nd.
