Muncie, Ind. - The University of Illinois at Chicago men's swimming and diving team appears to be coming on, as the Flames knocked off Xavier, 80-59, but couldn't beat Ball State, losing, 93-45, at Ball State on Saturday afternoon.

For the women's team, it was a long day, as the Flames came up empty, dropping a pair of decisions. Ball State beat the Flames, 98-41, while the Musketeers defeated UIC's women, 88-50.

Newcomer Ari Bernstein picked-up the lone individual win of the day for the men's team winning the 100-yard butterfly in a swift 53.48.

The Flames also grabbed first in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as the team of Bernstein, LeRoy Stevens, Adan Jimenez and Enric Claret finished in 3:14.42.

The women got a win from diver Caitlin Carey who took the three-meter event with a score of 243.08.

Both squads will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 23, as the Flames head to Macomb to compete against Western Illinois. The meet is slated to start at 2:00 p.m.
