Women's Swimming And Diving Loses A Close Battle Against North Dakota
Nov. 6, 2009 CHICAGO, Ill.- The UIC men's swimming and diving team was victorious, while the women's team fell just short at home against North Dakota on Friday. The men's squad destroyed the Fighting Sioux 146-79 while the women lost a close battle 138-103. Winners on the day include Luke Martinez (1000 free), Shaina Israel (1000 free), Zach Van Swol (500 free), Emily Gniatczyk (200 and 100 free), Brian Anderson (200 and 100 free), Kayla Redig (100 fly), Andrew Schmitt (100 fly), Clair Martin (100 back), Steve Yemm (100 back), McKinzie Jacobs (100 breast), Cameron Seebeck (50 free), and Evan Dunn (200 IM). "Very solid performance especially from the men's team." said Head Coach Paul Moniak. "We fell a little short on the women's team but we are making progress meet by meet." In diving Kevin Heger took first in the one meter while Mike Grecco finished in first in the three meter.
Gniatczyk set her first Flames record in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.42 breaking Andrea Giczewski time of 1:54.64 set last year. UIC hosts a quad-meet featuring North Dakota, Milwaukee, and Butler at the UIC Natatorium, Nov 7 at 11:45 a.m. |
