Dayton, Ohio- Facing the defending Horizon League champions on both sides, the University of Illinois at Chicago swimming and diving teams faced a tough road task against perennial power Wright State, but the Flames put up a nice fight in defeat on Saturday at the WSU Natatorium.

In a quick meet that was closer than the final tallies indicated, the UIC men (1-1, 0-1 Horizon League) dropped a 135-102 decision to the Raiders, while the UIC women's team (1-1, 0-1 Horizon League) were downed 145.5-94.5.

The Flames continued to get awesome performances from their speedsters, as Blake Booher and Colleen Dougherty gave UIC a clean sweep of the 50-yard freestyle events.

Booher won the men's race in 21.34, defeating defending league 50 free champion Elvis Cirikovic. Dougherty continued her blazing start, winning the 50 free for the second dual meet in a row with a 25.36, edging out teammate Jenny Gessford, who swam a 25.89.

UIC also swept the 400-yard freestyle relays.

In diving, Ryan Fitzer grabbed first in both the one-meter and three-meter dives, while Tara Goodwin and Sarah Economides took second place in the one-meter and three-meter boards, respectively.

The Flames return to the UIC Natatorium for action next week against league rival UW-Milwaukee on Saturday, Nov. 6th beginning at 2 p.m.
