Chicago, Ill. - Less than a day after tangling with Eastern Illinois at home, the University of Illinois at Chicago men's and women's swimming and diving squads traveled to Evanston to take part in the Northwestern Relays on Sunday afternoon.

Lessons were learned and improvements were made, as both teams finished fifth in the top-notch field.

Northwestern (220) won the women's competition, followed by Toledo (187), UW-Milwaukee (155), Louisville (147.50) and UIC (133.50).

On the men's side, the host Wildcats (205) were again victorious, followed by Toledo (202), Louisville (157), UW-Milwaukee (156) and the Flames (123).

The UIC women's team picked-up a third-place finish from the 800-yard free relay team of Aisha Williams, Stephanie Donovan, Vanessa Segovia and Laura Martensen in a time of 8:08.71.

The Flames' men accomplished the same in the 800-yard free relay, as the all-freshmen squad of LeRoy Stevens, Ari Bernstein, Bill Hare and Kris Simos took third in 7:21.29.

Stevens, Bernstein, Hare and Adan Jimenez teamed up for a third-place tally in the 200-yard free relay (1:29.90) in another all-rookie effort.

The Flames are back home on Saturday, November 2, when they host the St. Louis Billikens in non-conference action starting at 2:00 p.m. at the UIC Natatorium.
