Feb. 2, 2002

Dayton, Ohio - Just 10 hours after defeating Butler at home on Senior Night, the University of Illinois at Chicago men's and women's swimming and diving squads boarded a bus to Dayton, Ohio for a match-up with the Raiders.

When the Flames arrived, they did not receive a warm welcome, as the Wright State women defeated the UIC women 147.50-75.50, while the Wright State men knocked off the UIC men 124-75.

Winners on the afternoon for the UIC women included Julie-Anne Chico in the 50-yard free (25.98), Christine Hare in the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.55) and Caitlin Carey in the one-meter diving event (225.73).

For the men, Paul Torres claimed a pair of races, wining the 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.44) and the 200-yard IM (1:59.17).

Also joining the winner's circle was Chris Kaczor in the men's 500-yard free with a time of 5:25.92.

The swimming and diving squads will be back in the pool on Friday afternoon for a matinee with the Vikings of Cleveland State in Ohio.
