MACOMB, Ill. - A day after the women's squad defeated league foe Youngstown State, the UIC swimming and diving team took to the road to take on Western Illinois on Saturday afternoon with fantastic results, defeating WIU on both sides.

The men's squad took first-place in all but two events, taking the meet, 144-94. The women were equally as successful, winning 150-82.

After unsavory travel conditions forced UIC to postpone the meet originally scheduled on December 20, the Flames came out well against Western, taking both 400 medley relays and the majority of races from that point on.

Event winners include Kelly Hashoian (1000 free, 10:39.01 and 500 free, 5:14.62), Mike Hare with a personal best in the 1000 free (9:46.58), Clair Martin (200 free, 1:59.25 and 200 back, 2:07.30), Zach Van Swol (200 free, 1:46.79 and 200 back, 1:59.88), Brian Anderson (50 free, 21.84), Courtney Eck (200 IM 2:14.84), Andrew Schmitt (200 IM, 1:57.70 and 500 free, 4:50.43), Kayla Redig (200 fly, 2:08.78), Evan Dunn (1:56.40), Cameron Seebeck (100 free, 47.57), and Sarah Walsh (200 breast, 2:27.81).

On the boards, Laurel Heath won the one-meter (217.65) and three-meter (207.08) for the second day in a row.

The Flames return to the UIC Natatorium next Saturday, February 7 when they host Cleveland State at 12 p.m for Senior Day at the final regular-season meet of the season.
