The UIC men and women's swimming and diving team traveled up north and participated in the UW-Milwaukee Bill Ritter Invitational this past weekend. Both teams finished third out of the four-team field with the men accumulating 578 points and the women 512 points.

UW-Green Bay earned the men's title with 1,098 points while UW-Milwaukee garnered the women's title with 1,246 points.

UIC interim head coach Ina Harizanova received outstanding performances from double-winners Paul Torres, Diego Lora Coronado and Tom Schwingen. Torres, a junior, earned victories in the 200-yard individual medley (1:56.98) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:08.03). Freshman Enric Claret earned runner-up honors in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:15.45.

Lora Coronado, a senior, dominated the breaststroke events with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.01) and he narrowly edged Torres in the 200-yard breaststroke 2:08.02 to 2:08.15.

Schiwingen, a sophomore, swept the sprint freestyle events with titles in the 50-yard (21.74) and the 100-yard (47.18) races.

The men's team also earned wins from senior Charlie Rock (3-meter diving, 450.25) and junior David Kimmerly (1:58.06, 200-yard backstroke). Sophomore diver Mike Magee was runner up in the 1-meter competition with 271.50 points. The men's 400-yard medley relay team placed second with a time of 3:35.36.

The lone victors for the women's team included junior Adrienne Turri (100-yard backstroke, 1:02.08) and freshman Jamie Redway (1650-yard freestyle, 17:47.27).
