CHICAGO – Freshman catcher and infielder Breann Warren (Spokane, Wash./University) sat down with UICFlames.com for the Fireside Chat, which features the 2011-12 roster. Warren, along with her teammates disclose information about themselves, both on and off the diamond.

First a word from head coach Michelle Venturella on Warren …

“We are so excited to have Brea join us this year. She is going to bring some depth to our offense this year. She also works hard every day to get better and is starting to show what she is capable of both offensively, as well as defensively. She has a wonderful personality that is fun to be around. I look forward to a seeing her develop as we move through the year.”

UICFlames.com: What is the best vacation you have been on?

Breann Warren: During my freshman year of high school I went to Hawaii with my best friend. It was a surprise because my parents told me I couldn’t go, but then they got me the trip for Christmas. We went to Maui and surfed and went snorkeling.

UICFlames.com: What are you dressing up as for Halloween?

B.W.: For Halloween, Erica [Hampton] and I are being Greek Goddesses. We went and picked out the stuff to make our togas already.

UICFlames.com: Do you have any nicknames?

B.W.: My teammates here at UIC call me “The Plan”, but at home my friends call me BDub because it goes with the initials to my name.

UICFlames.com: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

B.W.: Ever since I was little and even up until this year, I wanted to be a teacher. Now, I am leaning more towards attending the business school.

UICFlames.com: Do you have any siblings?

B.W.: I have an older sister, Ali, who is a junior and plays softball at DePaul. It’s nice to have her close, but we don’t get to see each other very often because we are so busy.

UICFlames.com: What are you most looking forward to this softball season?

B.W.: I am most looking forward to making new memories with all of my teammates. The chemistry we have on the team is great and we are all going to have a ton of fun this season.

The Fireside Chat resumes next Wednesday as UICFlames.com for more updates on the UIC softball team.
