Progress Report: Ann Baum Softball Scoreboard
Oct. 6, 2010
CHICAGO - While it's not a total makeover, Flames Field will have a new look next season, or at least a new element to help keep track of balls, strikes, outs, hits and most importantly, runs with the addition of the Ann Baum Scoreboard.
Crews have been hard at work over the past few weeks removing the outdated version and installing the new scoreboard in left centerfield.
The overall cost for the project is $150,000. UIC has already received several generous donations for the new scoreboard including a kind grant of $100,000 from the Alvin H. Baum Family Fund in honor of Ann Baum, for whom the scoreboard will be named.
"The support of the athletic department and the community has been outstanding for the UIC softball program," said UIC head coach Michelle Venturella. "This generous donation In remembrance of Ann Baum will not only enhance the look at Flames Field for our team, but also for those in the community who use our venue. It will be something that will be enjoyed for years to come."
