Chicago, Ill. - The past, present and future of UIC softball will converge on Flames Field on Saturday, September 13 at noon as the team opens the fall schedule at home against Lake Land College on Alumni Day.

In the Flames only home weekend of the fall, the squad will host the Lakers from East Central Illinois in a double-header with a 12 p.m. start with free admission.

The day will also play host to the Flames Alumni Day, where all former UIC softball student-athletes will be recognized for their accomplishments in between games.

"We are very excited to have our alumni back on campus this Saturday," said coach Michelle Venturella. "It is important for our team to know the tradition of their program and also for them to meet the women who have worn the UIC uniform."

At the conclusion of the double header, the team will hold an alumni gathering at Connie's, located just minutes away from Flames Field at 2373 S. Archer Avenue.

Coach Venturella and the entire softball staff are looking forward to meeting all who will be in attendance on Saturday.

"It will be a great time for everyone to reconnect as well as share in the vision of this 2008-2009 UIC softball team!" said Venturella.
