`Forty Flames to Follow' for 2013-14: Courtney Heeley|

CHICAGO - UIC softball outfielder Courtney Heeley returns for her final season with the Flames after assisting her team a first-place Horizon League finish. She collected a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage at her post in left field and was named the Horizon League Hitter of the Week on March 18.
"Courtney has been such an important part of this team," head UIC softball coach Michelle Venturella said. "She has helped set the tone within the team of doing what it takes to be not only competitive in the Horizon League, but to be competitive nationally. Her passion for this game is evident every time you watch her play. We are excited for her to continue to lead this team on and off the field."
A native of Glendale, Ariz., Heeley appeared and started 42 games during the2013 season. She compiled five multi-hit games, including a season-high three hits against Michigan State on Feb. 16. In that contest, she also earned two runs and one RBI.
On March 15 she lifted the Flames to a 7-6 victory over Toledo at the Hoosier Classic when she had two RBI, including the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh inning. As a result of her .444 batting average, three RBI , .778 slugging percentage and lone homerun of the season that Heeley was recognized as the Horizon League Hitter of the Week.
Heeley is one of 11 returnees from the 2013 Horizon League regular season championship team.
