Clynes Earns Spot On 2007 NFCA All-Great Lakes Region First Team
May 16, 2007 Chicago, Ill. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Wednesday morning that University of Illinois at Chicago sophomore Sarah Clynes earned a spot on the 2007 All-Great Lakes Region First Team. Clynes, the 2007 Horizon League Co-Player of the Year, led the Flames with a .391 batting average. The sophomore tallied a team-best 32 runs scored, 61 hits, 14 doubles and five home runs. Clynes owned a team-high .590 slugging percentage and a .472 on-base percentage. In addition to Co-Player of the Year honors, the sophomore was named First Team All-Horizon League this season. As a rookie, Clynes earned Second Team All-Horizon League honors, All-Newcomer Team accolades and was named Newcomer of the Year. Clynes is now eligible for All-American consideration. The team will be announced on the NFCA website (www.nfca.org) on Monday, May 30 at 4:00 p.m. CST. The Flames finished the year with a 20-33 record and made an impressive run in the 2007 Horizon League Tournament with a 2-2 mark.
