Chicago, Ill. - The Midwestern Collegiate Conference announced its 2000 Softball Championship brackets today with UIC (49-23 overall, 9-1 MCC) entering as the No. 1 seed after capturing its fifth consecutive regular-season title on Saturday at Wright State.

With their top ranking, the Flames earn a bye in the first round and will meet the winner of fourth-seeded UW-Green Bay and fifth-seeded Cleveland State in the quarterfinal round on Friday, April 12, at 5:00 p.m.

The tournament begins on Friday, May 12, on the campus of Indianapolis' North Central High School, at 9:00 am (CDT), with a NCAA Tournament participant determined on Sunday, May 14, in the championship game.
