    INDIANAPOLIS – Shortstop Natalie Hernandez and second baseman Jacki Fletcher have been selected to the All-Horizon League First Team, as the conference announced on Wednesday morning. Outfielder Paige Peterson and third baseman Jenna Marsalli were named to the Second Team All-League and infielder Kelly Kennedy earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team.

    Hernandez picks up her second-consecutive honor after being named to the First Team as a junior. Hernandez has continuously led the Flames and placed among the best in the Horizon League this season. Against conference opponents, Hernandez owns a .394 average with 16 runs, 26 hits, four home runs, 23 RBI and a .652 slugging percentage. Overall on the season, the senior is hitting .396 with 55 hits, nine homers and 37 RBI.

    Fletcher collects her first Horizon League honor following the best offensive regular season of her career. She boasts a .390 average this season with 48 hits and is hitting .345 with 20 hits and 12 RBI in conference play. The senior owns 14 multi-hit games and has had at least one hit in 32 of 39 games played.

    Peterson and Marsalli additionally tab first-time honors after having productive seasons. Peterson owns the best batting average (.411) for UIC and is hitting .431 against Horizon League opponents. The junior leads the team with a .475 on-base percentage and ended the regular season on a 14-game hitting streak. Marsalli owns the Horizon League's 10th-best batting average (.342) and is tied on the team for most doubles (10) and triples (2), ranking in the top-10 in each category in the Horizon League.


     

     

    Kennedy places on the All-Freshman Team after producing a .400 average with 12 hits and six RBI against conference foes. On the season, Kennedy has a .298 average with 17 hits and one home run and has rotated between playing as the first baseman, catcher and designated player.
