Chicago, Ill. - The UIC softball team (16-25, 6-3) steps back onto the diamond after a week off because of rainy conditions. The cancellation of UIC's game versus Notre Dame this week marked the sixth contest this season. The Flames host Cleveland State in a three-game series at Flames Field on Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29.

The first pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is set for a 1:00 p.m. start, followed by the series finale on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.

UIC leads the series against Cleveland State, 32-8. After falling to the Vikings, 2-1, in a three-game series in regular-season action in 2006, the Flames bounced back and knocked the team out of the Horizon League Tournament to advance to the championship game.

The Flames are coming off an impressive three-game series sweep over Detroit at home last weekend. Junior Ashlee Ackerman posted a team-high .700 batting average (7-for-10) with five runs scored, two doubles and five RBI.

Freshman Brooke Frydendall was 7-for-11 with four runs, three doubles and a team-high seven RBI. Sophomore Sarah Clynes owned a .615 batting average (8-for-13) with six runs, two doubles, six RBI and two homers.

Clynes earned two victories in the circle against the Titans to move her overall record to 12-13 on the season. Clynes fanned 11 batters in 14.0 innings pitched.

Cleveland State's (19-12, 2-6) last four games have been canceled due to rainy conditions. The Vikings' doubleheaders versus Youngstown State on April 25 and Toledo on April 26 were a wash out because of inclement weather.

Prior to the week of cancellations, Cleveland State lost four straight contests. The Vikings dropped a single game to Kent State on April 18, followed by a series sweep to Loyola last weekend.

On the season, Christa Coppus leads CSU with a .384 batting average (38-for-99). Coppus has totaled a team-best eight doubles, 24 RBI and three home runs. Amanda Macenko (15-8) guides the Vikings in the circle with a 1.85 ERA. Macenko has fanned 108 batters in 144.0 innings pitched.

UIC battles DePaul at Cacciatore Stadium on Tuesday, May 1 at 4:00 p.m. The Flames then host Western Illinois in a doubleheader on Thursday, May 3 in a Senior Night celebration at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
