Softball Continues Rally To Strike Out Cancer|
April 25, 2013
CHICAGO – Help the UIC softball team during its final days of the FLAMEingo Drive as the team tries to reach its fundraising goal and support putting an end to breast cancer. The Flames are holding an event Friday in the UIC Quad from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The Flames then welcome Youngstown State for a three-game series Saturday and Sunday. The Breast Cancer Awareness Day is Saturday and the first pitch is at Noon (CT). The series concludes Sunday at 11:00 a.m., with a single game. If you get there early enough, you could receive a flamingo as part of the initiative.
The event in the Quad will include games and prizes, and the money raised will go toward the FLAMEingo Drive initiative. The team has raised $1,610 on their online donation website (DONATE HERE), but are still $890 short of the $2,500 set goal.
UIC is currently in first place in the Horizon League with just two conference series remaining. The Flames face Youngstown State Saturday and Sunday, followed by Cleveland State May 4 and 5.
