Softball Faces Notre Dame On Wednesday In South Bend

UIC vs. Notre Dame Game Notes in PDF Format Chicago, Ill. - UIC softball heads to South Bend, Ind. to face Notre Dame on Wednesday, April 25 at 6:00 p.m. The Fighting Irish (24-18) lead the series, 18-9. UIC is coming off a three-game series sweep over Detroit at home last weekend. The Flames posted a .424 batting average (39-for-92) with 32 runs scored, 15 doubles, 30 RBI and two homers in three games. Sophomore Sarah Clynes (12-13) owned a 1.50 ERA in two complete games with 11 strikeouts in 14.0 innings pitched. Freshman Chelsea Fuemmeler (3-12) picked up her third win in the circle after guiding the Flames 14-4 triumph over the Titans in six innings in game two. Fuemmeler fanned six batters in six innings pitched. Junior Ashlee Ackerman led the squad with a .700 batting average (7-for-10). Freshman Brooke Frydendall was hot at the plate with a .636 batting average (7-for-11) and a team-best seven RBI. Clynes was 8-for-13 with two home runs, while junior Brittany Dixon totaled a team-high seven runs scored and four doubles in the series. Notre Dame (24-18) enters the contest after being swept by BIG EAST foe South Florida at home on April 22. The Fighting Irish are powered by Stephanie Brown with a .433 batting average. Brown leads the team with 35 runs scored and 52 hits. Brittany Bargar (16-9) guides Notre Dame in the circle this season with a 1.98 ERA. Bargar has fanned 170 batters in 173.1 innings pitched. UIC returns to Flames Field this weekend for a three-game series versus Cleveland State on Saturday, April 28 and Sunday April 29. The doubleheader on Saturday begins at 1:00 p.m., followed by the series finale on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
