Chicago, Ill. - UIC sophomore Sarah Clynes earned her first Horizon League Player of the Week honors, announced by the league office on Monday. Clynes notched two Pitcher of the Week honors from the conference earlier this season. The sophomore posted a .529 batting average in five games for the Flames last week.

Clynes was 9-for-17 with eight runs scored, three doubles, six RBI and two home runs. The pitcher/designated player owned a 1.059 slugging percentage and a .619 on-base percentage in UIC's 3-2 week.

Clynes was 1-for-3 with one run scored versus Wisconsin on April 17. In a three-game series sweep over Detroit last weekend, Clynes was 3-for-5 with two runs in game one. In game two of the doubleheader on Saturday, the sophomore totaled three hits, two runs, four RBI and a three-run homer against the Titans. Clynes capped the series with two hits, two runs, two RBI and a solo blast over center field.

Averaging 1.78 hits per game, Clynes it tied for third place in Horizon League contests. Following her two homers over the weekend, the sophomore now ranks second with four home runs on the season. Clynes leads the league in slugging percentage (1.125) and runs scored (12), while ranking second in doubles (6), RBI (11) and totaled bases (36).

UIC travels to South Bend for a matchup against Notre Dame on Wednesday, April 25 before hosting Cleveland State in a three-game series this weekend.
