Chicago, Ill. - The UIC softball team heads to Evanston this afternoon to battle No. 12 Northwestern at Sharon J. Drysdale Field. The first pitch is set for 3 p.m.

The last time UIC and NU met was on April 20, 2005 where the Flames downed the nationally-ranked Wildcats, 4-3, in Evanston. The two teams were scheduled to play in 2006, but the contest was canceled due to inclement weather.

Northwestern leads the series, 23-11. UIC enters the contest 18-25 overall, while the Wildcats own a 28-10 mark.

The Flames are looking to spring back after falling to Cleveland State in consecutive games at home last weekend. Despite the losses, Sarah Clynes was 6-for-9 (.667) at the plate in the three-game series with two runs, four RBI and one home run.

Northwestern enters the contest with four straight wins under its belt. NU's only loss in 16 games was against Iowa on April 13. Tammy Williams leads the team with a .527 batting average. Williams has totaled 36 runs and 33 RBI on the year.

UIC travels to Lincoln Park on Thursday, April 24 to play a rescheduled game against No. 23 DePaul at 4 p.m.
