Chicago, Ill. - UIC softball (13-25, 3-3) steps back into Horizon League action this weekend in a three-game series at home versus Detroit after two con-conference contests versus Wisconsin and No. 14 DePaul.

The teams square off against Detroit in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 21 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a single matchup on Sunday, April 22 at noon.

Pam Greandias, aunt of senior Liz Jacoby, will be the guest announcer for Sunday's contest after winning the silent auction at the Candlelight Bowl held in February. The Candlelight Bowl is UIC softball's fundraising function held annually.

The Flames lead the series, 36-3, including a three-game series sweep last season at Detroit.

The Flames are coming off two tough losses to Wisconsin and DePaul. The Badgers edged UIC in the bottom of the seventh inning, 4-3, on April 17 on the road. No. 14 DePaul scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning at Flames Field to seal the 5-1 victory for the Blue Demons on April 19.

On the season, sophomore Sarah Clynes continues to pace the Flames at the plate and in the circle. Clynes owns a team-best .349 batting average with 38 hits, ranking third in the league. The sophomore pitcher leads the conference with four shutouts. Clynes has amassed 83 strikeouts (third in the league) in 144.0 innings pitched.

Ranking second on the team with a .281 batting average, freshman Brooke Frydendall has gotten off to a stellar rookie start. Frydendall has totaled 27 hits, four doubles, 18 RBI and three homers in 36 games.

Detroit enters the series with a 9-20 overall record and a 1-5 conference mark. The Titans fell to Bowling Green in a doubleheader at home on April 17.

Titan senior Sarah Dickey powers the squad with a .476 batting average. Dickey owns a team-best 27 runs scored and 49 hits. 2006 Horizon League Player of the Year Kaleigh Rafter leads the team and league with 28 RBI and nine homers.

UIC travels to Indiana for a matchup against Notre Dame on Wednesday, April 25 at 6:00 p.m.
