Hernandez Named Horizon League Hitter Of The Week|

INDIANAPOLIS – For the second time in two weeks, junior Natalie Hernandez has been selected as the Horizon League Hitter of the Week, it was announced from League headquarters in Indianapolis Monday morning.
Hernandez led the Flames to a 5-1 conference record on the week, notching two wins over Green Bay on April 3 (9-1 and 6-1), and sweeping Detroit on April 6 (5-1 and 17-8) and 7 (19-3).
In the six games, the shortstop hit at .609, going 14-for-23. She went yard with two home runs against Detroit, her first two of the season. She notched a slugging percentage of .957 and collected eight RBI.
Hernandez was selected as the League Hitter of the Week just two weeks ago on March 25. This is the fourth-straight week that a UIC member has been selected as the Hitter of the Week. Junior Courtney Heeley earned the honor on March 18, before Hernandez on the 25th. On April 1, freshman Laura Swan was selected.
Senior pitcher Devin Miller was also among the award winners in the past four weeks as she was selected as the Horizon League Co-Pitcher of the Week on March 25 and had sole possession of the honor on April 1.
The Flames are set to take a break from the conference schedule to face DePaul Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. (CT) at Flames Field.
