Softball Welcomes Notre Dame To Flames Field On Thursday

Chicago, Ill. - The UIC softball team hosts Notre Dame in a single game on Thursday, March 27. The first pitch at Flames Field is set for 5 p.m.
The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m.
Notre Dame leads the series, 18-9. Last season's contest was canceled due to inclement weather. The last time the Flames and Fighting Irish met was in 2005. UIC fell to Notre Dame, 4-0, at Flames Field on April 14.
UIC is looking to rebound from two losses to Illinois on Tuesday, March 25. Brittany Dixon was 2-for-4 at the plate in two games. Sarah Clynes totaled two hits, one triple and one RBI. In game two, Whittney Orellana fanned a season-high six batters in 7.0 innings pitched.
Ashlee Ackerman leads the Flames on the season with a .326 batting average. Ackerman ranks first in the league with 30 hits.
Notre Dame (15-9) is scheduled to host IUPUI on Wednesday before squaring off against the Flames.
The Fighting Irish are led by Sadie Pitzenberger with a .338 batting average. The freshman has totaled a team-best 19 runs and 27 hits.
UIC heads to Indianapolis on March 29 and 30 for its opening weekend of Horizon League action against Butler.
