    Interview with Courtney Heeley

INDIANAPOLIS – Junior left fielder Courtney Heeley has been selected as the Horizon League Player of the Week, it was announced by the League office Monday morning. The honor follows UIC’s 3-1 weekend at the Hoosier Classic where Heeley hit .444 with three RBI on the weekend.

In four games Heeley collected a .444 batting average and a .778 slugging percentage. She went 4-for-9 at the plate and collected three runs, including her first homerun of the season against Toledo on Saturday.

The left-hander compiled three RBI during the weekend, including the game-winning RBI against Toledo Friday in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure the 7-6 victory.

The Flames defeated Central Michigan, 3-2 to open the tournament, before dropping Toledo in back-to-back games (7-6 and 6-5 in eight innings). The Flames lone loss was against Indiana, 8-0 in five innings.

Heeley and the Flames return to action Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. (CT) against Bradley in The Dome at the Ball Park in Rosemont, Ill.
