Softball Concludes Tournament Campaign In Louisville This Weekend

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The UIC softball team heads south to Kentucky for Louisville's Cardinal Tournament, the final weekend invitational of the season.
The Flames (4-14) will see a pair of top 20 teams in 17th-ranked Ohio State as well as the host Cardinals, who are 18th in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25. Eastern Michigan and Minnesota round out the weekend competitors for UIC.
Melinda Macias is currently in the midst of a six-game hitting streak, picking up a .375 average last weekend at the USF Under-Armour Invitational with six hits, two runs and an RBI.
Melissa Marinacci paces the Flames with a .320 overall average off of 10 RBI and a team-leading 16 hits.
Ashley Hewett will look to build off an impressive showing against Ball State last weekend in Tampa where she threw a one-hitter against the Cardinals as the Flames defeated BSU, 2-0.
