Tampa, Fla. - Stefanie Christopherson was the hero of the day as UIC downed Big East power Connecticut, 4-1 in the opening game of the Speedline Ivitational in Tampa, Fla. With the game in extra innings and the score knotted at 1-1, Christoferson belted a three-run homer with one out in the bottom of the ninth to lift UIC to the dramatic 4-1 victory. Samatha Iuli (11-5) pitched a complete game to pick up the win.

The win improved No. 19 UIC's record to 18-12. The Flames are scheduled to face Hofstra later in the day for UIC's second game at the Speedline Inivte.
