Astiazaran Named Horizon League Softball Player Of The Week, Again

Chicago, Ill. - The Horizon League announced on Monday afternoon that UIC senior Cameron Astiazaran has been named the Player of the Week for the period ending February 27th.
This is the second consecutive week that Astiazaran has earned the award and third time in her career she has been recognized.
The Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., native, who returned to her home state over the weekend, remained red-hot at the plate, posting a.500 (9-for-18) batting average as UIC tallied a 3-2 record at the USD Invitational in San Diego.
Astiazaran totaled a 1.056 slugging percentage with four doubles, three triples and four RBI. She hit safely in all five of the Flames' games, including a trio of multi-hit outings
She was also perfect in the field with seven putouts to her credit.
Astiazaran's best effort came in UIC's 5-2 win over UC-Riverside on Saturday as she went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
For the season, she is now batting a team-high .462 with seven doubles, three triples and seven RBI.
Astiazaran and the rest of the UIC Flames will be back in action on Thursday when they open play at the Las Vegas Classic by taking on #18 Oregon.
