    Chicago, Ill. - UIC softball bounced back this afternoon with a 9-3 win over Northern Illinois in the final contest of the Round Robin tournament at Flames Field.

    Sophomore Sarah Clynes went 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Ashlee Ackerman was 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Freshman Claire Donyanavard was 1-for-3 with three RBI.

    Senior Mallory Studzinski was 2-for-3 with one run and two RBI. Freshman Alicia Abbott added two runs and one RBI against the Huskies.

    UIC got on the board first on an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the first inning. With the bases loaded, Donyanavard drilled a three-run RBI to center field for a 4-0 lead.

    UIC's Ackerman notched another RBI single, sending Clynes home for a five-point advantage. The Flames extended the gap after Ackerman scored on a fielding error by NIU's shortstop in the second inning (6-0).

    Northern Illinois cut the deficit in the fourth with a two-run RBI single from Krista McPherson down the right field line.

    The Huskies added two more runs in the fifth inning on a two-run RBI double down the left field line from Emily Gooding.

    UIC regained a run in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Abbott, followed by an RBI single from Mallory Studzinski.

    Holding the Huskies in the top of the seventh, the Flames clinched the 9-3 victory.
