DePaul Spoils Softball's Fall Debut, 9-0
Oct. 5, 2002
Chicago, Ill. - The UIC softball team committed five errors in the field and DePaul ace Lindsay Chouinard was in mid-season form on Saturday afternoon as the Blue Demons run-ruled the Flames, 9-0, in five innings at the Second Annual 'Battle in the Windy City' Softball Tournament.
Chouinard allowed just one hit in five innings of work, with UIC's Alycia Creese dropping in a single with one out in the fifth. The senior struck out five and walked just one.
Flames starter Brittany McIntyre, who was tagged with the loss after allowing two runs, was forced out of the game in the second inning after being hit on her pitching hand by a Chouinard pitch.
DePaul already owned a 2-0 lead heading into the third inning, when three UIC errors led to four unearned Blue Demon runs off reliever Creese. Then in the fourth, DePaul tacked on three more runs highlighted by an RBI double by Christina Douglas and a solo home run by Saskia Roberson.
With the loss UIC drops to 0-1 in the tournament while DePaul remained unbeaten at 2-0. The Flames next game is at 5:30 p.m., when they take on Horizon League rival Loyola at Flames Field.
