Chicago, Ill. - Junior Cameron Astiazaran roped a key run-scoring double and senior Alycia Creese picked up her second save of the afternoon as the UIC softball team completed a three-game sweep of Loyola with a 4-3 triumph at Flames Field on Saturday.

With the win, the Flames, who have won six straight games, improved to 17-18 on the year and a perfect 3-0 in Horizon League play. The Ramblers, meanwhile, drop to 15-20, 5-4 in league action.

Sophomore starter Brittany McIntyre picked up the win for UIC to level her record at 6-6 on the year. It was her second win of the series. McIntyre allowed three runs on nine hits in five innings before being relieved by Creese.

Creese entered with the Flames clinging to a one-run lead and a runner on, but closed out Loyola the rest of the way, surrendering just one hit en route to her second save.

The Flames fell behind 1-0 in the top of the second, but got the run back in the bottom of the frame on a two-out, run-scoring single off the bat of Emily Stoddard.

In the third, senior Amanda Rivera put UIC up 3-1 with a long two-run homer to left field. It was her team-high seventh blast of the season and 39th of her career.

That lead was short-lived as Loyola knotted the score in the top of the fourth inning on a two-run triple by pitcher Mia Pangere. It was her first career triple.

The Flames mounted a two-out rally in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead back, 4-3.

After the first two batters were retired by Pangere, sophomore Joyce Cathey singled to right and then Astiazaran drove her home what proved to be the game-winning run with a double off the centerfield wall. The hit extended Astiazaran's career-best hitting streak to 11 games.

The Flames will be back in action on Monday as they continue Horizon League play at Butler. UIC and the Bulldogs will square off in a doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m.
