    Las Cruces, N.M. - The UIC softball team fell to 0-2 at the 27th Annual Troy Cox Classic with a 6-1 loss to Colorado State on Friday afternoon.

    The Flames (1-9) fell behind early, giving up single runs in the second and third innings. After battling back to tally a run of its own in the top of the fourth, the Rams plated two of their own in the bottom of the frame, before adding two more insurance runs in the sixth.

    Senior Alison Aguilar was tagged with the loss in the circle for the Flames, dropping to 1-2 on the year. She allowed 10 hits and four runs, three earned, in 3 1/3 innings of work. She was spelled by senior Alycia Creese, who was tagged for two runs in relief.

    Senior Amanda Rivera and sophomore Meghan Gallagher both went 2-for-3 as UIC tallied five hits in the contest.

    The Flames will be back in action tomorrow as they take on Texas State and host New Mexico State in day two action at the Troy Cox Classic.
