Iuli Tosses No-Hitter As Flames Down Ohio University
Feb. 18, 2000 Raleigh, N.C. - Senior Samantha Iuli puitched a complete-game no-hitter as No. 22 UIC downed Ohio University, 3-0, Friday at the Triangle Classic in Raleigh, N.C. Iuli threw seven strikeouts in seven innings en route to her fifth no-hit performance at UIC. Her last no-hitter came in last year's MCC Tournemant, when Iuli pitched a perfect game in an 8-0 win over Wright State. The Flames were helped out on the offensive end by Gina Arnold, Edel Leyden and Jennifer Tiffany, who each went 2-for-4 from the plate with one RBI. The victory improved UIC's record to 10-4 on the season and gave head coach Mike McGovern his 495th career victory.
The Flames' afternoon game against UNC Charlotte was postponed until 9:30 a.m. Saturday because of heavy rain and wet field conditions that have plagued the Raleigh area over the past several days.
