Las Cruces, New Mexico - The UIC softball team fell to host New Mexico State, 7-1, on Saturday night. The Flames conclude tournament action against Colorado State on Sunday at 10 a.m. CST.

Junior Melissa Marinacci was 2-for-3 at the plate with UIC's lone RBI. Freshman Alicia Abbott was 2-for-3 and sophomore Stephanie Chavez was 2-for-4. Freshman Christie Seddon and senior Brittany Dixon each tabbed a hit against the Aggies.

Freshman Ashley Maroda was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer for New Mexico State. Freshman Hoku Nohara was 1-for-4 with a solo home run.

Freshman Carly DeMarco falls to 1-2 overall in the circle.

New Mexico State took a 3-0 lead on a three-run home run from Maroda. The Aggies added a run in the top of the third on a solo homer from Nohara.

Marinacci cut the deficit to two runs on an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.

NMSU tacked on three more runs in the top of the seventh and held UIC in the bottom-half of the inning for the 7-1 victory.
