Softball Downs Tulsa in Third Day of UTA Invitational
Feb. 13, 2000 Arlington, Texas - Gina Arnold went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI as No. 22 UIC defeated Tulsa, 5-1, to advance to the Consolation Championship of the UTA Invitational. The win moved UIC's season record to 9-3 and sends the Flames into Sunday afternoon's Consolation Championship against SW Texas State.
The Flames jumped on top quickly when Stephanie Christoferson hit a one-out homerun in the bottom of the second, putting UIC ahead 1-0. Emily Webster was up next, doubling into center field. Edel Leyden drove her in on UIC's next at bat with a single to center field, giving the Flames a 2-0 lead after two.
UIC upped its lead to 4-0 in the fouth inning after Gina Arnold hit a 2-RBI single, driving in Christoferson and Amy Gonzales.
Samantha Iuli (5-1) picked up the win for UIC, going seven innings while allowing just five hits and no earned runs.
