Box Score

ARLINGTON, Texas - UIC smacked four homeruns as the Flames cruised to 12-0 victory over Baylor in the Saturday nightcap of the UTA Invitational in Arlington, Texas. The loss kept UIC alive in the tournament after it lost a tough 1-0 decision to Oklahoma State in Flames' elimination-round opener earlier on Saturday. That loss dropped UIC from the Championship Bracket to the Consolation Bracket, where Flames will Tulsa at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

UIC belted four home to rout Baylor Saturday evening by a score 12-0. The game was called after five innings because of softball's "10-run" rule.

Stephanie Christoferson hit two dingers for UIC, including a grand slam in the fourth inning that gave UIC its final 12-0 margin of victory. She also hit leadoff homer to start the second inning for the Flames. For the game, Christoferson went 3-for-3 from the plate with a 5 RBI, two runs and two homers.

Samantha Iuli and Amber Stachura also joined the UIC hit parade, each contributing a homer of their own. Stachura's shot to left center with two outs in the second inning knocked in 3 RBI, ballooning the Flames' lead to 8-0 at the end of the inning. The Flames, with the game firmly in hand, would never look back.

Sophomore Rory Gonzales-Gould picked up the win for the Flames, scattering five hits over five innings to move her record to 4-2 on the season.
