Box Score

San Diego, Calif. -

#22 UIC 1, San Diego 0

UIC survived a seventh-inning scare to win the USD Round Robin Tournament by beating host San Diego, 1-0. Samantha Iuli hit a bases-loaded single to drive in Jennifer Tiffany for the game-winning RBI.

Sophomore Rory Gonzales-Gould allowed three hits in six innings to pick up the win. Iuli made a relief appearance in the seventh inning to pick up the save.

With UIC clinging to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh, the host Torreros mounted their most serious challenge of the game. Two UIC errors and a bunt single loaded the bases for San Diego with no outs in the inning. But Iuli quickly closed the door on any Torrero rally, fanning the next two batters before forcing a short pop-up fly to end the game.

The win boosted UIC's record to 2-0 on the season while San Diego fell to 2-1.
