Box Score

San Diego, Calif. -

#22 UIC 2, San Diego State 0

UIC opened the day against San Diego State, with All-American pitcher and San Diego-native Samantha Iuli recording the team's first win of the season. Iuli held the Aztecs to just two hits to help the Flames pull out the victory. The game was limited to six innings because of the tournament's time constraints.

UIC scored both of its runs in the second inning, which would prove to be all that the Flames would need. After reaching base on a double, Amber Stachura gave UIC a 1-0 lead two batters later when she scored on a wild pitch. Julie Bumgardner gave the Flames some extra breathing room with a sacrifice bunt that drove in Abby Booth, making the score 2-0.

Iuli held SDSU to just two hits, both of which came in the second inning. The Aztecs went without a hit over the final five innings.
