Fletcher garners Horizon League's highest individual honor
The Flames earned a 3.297 team GPA during the 2012-13 academic year
The Cecil N. Coleman Award is considered the highest individual honor in the Horizon League.
Student-athletes were honored in both the fall and spring semesters
Schmit is also a candidate for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.
AS A JUNIOR (2012): Capital One Academic All-American Third Team ... Capital One Academic All-District ... named to the Horizon League preseason first team ... second team all-Horizon League honors ... College Sports Madness preseason first team selection ... College Sports Madness first team honoree ... led the team in home runs with nine ... most RBI with 39 ... second-highest slugging percentage with .515 ... third-most doubles with eight ... started and played in all 51 contests at first base ... posted a .308 batting average ... 169 at-bats ... 52 hits and 29 runs ... .365 on-base percentage ... had 297 putouts with 21 assists for a fielding percentage of .981 ... hit a walk-off homerun to defeat St. Mary's, 11-1 in five innings on Feb. 1.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2011): First team all-Horizon League selection ... named to the Horizon League all-tournament team ... played in 48 and started in 47 games ... hit .315 on the season, third highest average on the team ... scored 25 runs and collected 40 hits ... led the team in home runs with 10, seven against Horizon League opponents ... posted a season-high 14 putouts at Southern Illinois (March 12) and against DePaul (March 13) ... season-best six game hitting streak between April 13 and April 29 ... tallied a career best five RBI, including on four hits at Valparaiso (April 3) ... had eight multi-hit games ... had a pair of home runs in a 4-1 win over Valparaiso on April 2 ... named the Horizon League Player of the Week on April 4 after hitting at .600, logging nine RBI and collecting 18 total bases en route to a 2-1 Flames record on the week ... drove in all four runs for UIC in a 4-1 victory over Valparaiso on April 2 ... she is the seventh player in program history to tally four runs in a single game ... named the Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month for March ... earned the honor after claiming three home runs, eight RBI, .364 batting average, .697 slugging percentage, posted her third-consecutive 4.0 grade-point average during the fall semester ... hit a two-out RBI single to defeat top-seeded Loyola, 6-2 to advance in the Horizon League Tournament on May 12.
AS A FRESHMAN (2010): Named to all-League Newcomer Team after improving batting average to .283 in league play ... all three home runs came against league opponents (Cleveland State, Green Bay and Loyola) ... career-best three-RBI outing came off a one-out home run at Loyola on April 29 ... posted four multi-hit games, all but one coming against league competition ... went two-for-two in stolen bases in league games ... season-high four-game hitting streak fell between April 29 and May 1 against Loyola and Detroit ... drove in the winning run against Indiana on Feb. 19 to lead UIC to a 6-3 victory.
PREP AND PERSONAL: Four-time letterwinner in softball (catcher) at Lake Zurich (Ill.) ... three-time North Suburban Conference champions ... assisted the Bears to three regional championships ... two-time team captain ...
