Entering her second season as an assistant coach with the UIC softball program is former Flames' record holding pitcher Allison Aguilar Haehnel.

Haehnel, who earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2005, was a two-time Horizon League Pitcher of the Year and two-time All-Great Lakes Region honoree during her career at UIC.

Haehnel currently holds six career and five single-season pitching records in UIC softball history.

A 2004 Horizon League All-Tournament team selection, Haehnel racked up 117 strikeouts and three shutouts in 170.2 innings her senior year. She helped UIC to its ninth NCAA Regional appearance, where Haehnel helped the Flames beat #25 Notre Dame in one of the Flames' five games.

Prior to joining the UIC coaching staff, Haehnel served as an assistant coach for Saint Mary's College in California in 2006. She began her coaching career in Maryland, where she assisted Division II Washington College in 2005 and helped the squad improve in every statistical category.

With her knowledge in the circle, Haehnel served as a pitching coach for the Oak Park Windmills' softball organization.

Haehnel was married in December 2007 to former UIC baseball standout David Haehnel who currently pitches Double-A for the Bowie Baysox, an affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.
