Devin Miller Earns Great Lakes Region Recognition

UIC pitcher Devin Miller was selected to the NFCA Great Lakes Regional Second Team, it was announced from the NFCA headquarters in Louisville, Ky., Thursday. Miller is one of six pitchers in the region recognized and will now have the opportunity to earn All-American status.
Flames Upset In League Tournament

The top-seeded UIC softball team saw its season come to a close Thursday at Flames Field as No. 3 Valparaiso defeated the Flames 3-0. Junior Jenna Marsalli went the distance with a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to try to salvage the Flames' season.
Softball Drops To Wright State, 1-0

Junior Natalie Hernandez paced the Flames as she was the lone UIC member to compile a multi-hit game. Top-seeded UIC dropped 1-0 to No. 5 Wright State Thursday at Flames Field. The team will now face third-seeded Valparaiso at 4:30 p.m., on Thursday.

The UIC softball team begins its post-season run Thursday at 11:00 a.m. (CT) as the top-seeded Flames face fifth-seeded Wright State at Flames Field. The 2013 Horizon League Softball Championship began Wednesday with two games.

Devin Miller was named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Year, while head coach Michelle Venturella was selected as the Coach of the Year. The Flames also placed five members on the all-Horizon League First Team, one on the Second Team and one to the all-Newcomer Team.
