Nostalgia was in the air this past Saturday (April 5) as the 1994 Women's College World Series team, fellow alumni and former head coach Mike McGovern came together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Flames' lone trip to the WCWS. UIC went 56-19-1 that season with a perfect 17-0 record in Mid-Con play and defeated Indiana to advance to the WCWS.
Senior Natalie Hernandez recently spoke with Kyle Binder of the Horizon League Network following a successful week at the plate that led her to being named the Horizon League softball Player of the Week. Hernandez went 9-for-13 (.692) against Northwestern and Wright State while she collected her first career grand slam and a walk-off two-run homer that contributed to a single-game career-high eight RBI.
