The UIC softball team kicked off its fall season with a pair of wins against Loyola on Saturday (Sept. 13) at Flames Field. The Flames picked up an 11-1 victory in game one and came back in game two to take a 5-1 win against the Ramblers.
UIC softball alumni and current student-athletes came together on Saturday, Sept. 6, for the program's annual Alumni Day celebration at Flames Field. The alumni picked up a 9-4 win in the slow-pitch game against the 2014-15 Flames.
UIC softball alum Natalie Hernandez recently concluded her first season with the National Pro Fastpitch's Chicago Bandits, whom she signed with following open tryouts in May 2014. Hernandez and the Bandits went 30-18 and ended their season in the semifinal round of the NPF Championship Series to the Akron Racers.
UIC head softball coach Michelle Venturella announced on Friday that the annual alumni game will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6 beginning at 3 p.m. CT at Flames Field. The game, featuring current and former players, will follow a 1 p.m. scrimmage of the 2014-15 Flames.
UIC softball's Jacki Fletcher capped off her career by being named to the Capital One Academic All-America First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced in late May. Fletcher holds place as one of four infielders on the roster and was selected out of 93 Division I All-District finalists.
UIC head softball coach Michelle Venturella announced on Wednesday the addition of Teresa Aguilar to the Flames coaching staff as the volunteer assistant. Aguilar was a four-year letterwinner for the Flames from 2010-13, serving as the team's catcher and spending time at shortstop.
