UIC Softball Adds "Kids Camp"

UIC head softball coach Michelle Venturella added a "UIC Softball Kids Camp" to the featured clinics being offered by the Flames coaching staff during the 2012 summer. The camp is for kids age's eight to 12 and is June 18 from 9:00 a.m., until Noon at Flames Field.

The third-seeded UIC softball team fought to keep its season alive at the Horizon League Tournament, but the Flames dropped in a 3-0 outcome to top-seeded Valparaiso Thursday at Valpo Softball Field in Valparaiso, Ind.

Senior Ashley Hewett threw a no-hitter through four innings Wednesday to open the Horizon League Tournament at Valpo Field in Valparaiso, Ind. The third-seeded UIC softball team (26-26/12-10 Horizon) was outlasted by sixth-seeded Green Bay in a 5-1 outcome.

The No. 3 UIC softball team (26-25/12-9 Horizon) is set to face sixth-seeded Green Bay (22-26/11-12 Horizon) Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. (CT) in its opening game of the Horizon League Tournament at Valpo Field in Valparaiso, Ind.
UIC Trio Earns Horizon League Honors

Juniors Melissa Preish and Coryn Schmit and senior Melinda Macias earned Horizon League honors. Preish tabbed first-team honors, while Schmit and Macias earned second-team accolades. It was announced by the conference office Tuesday morning.
