The UIC women's soccer team (0-4-0) dropped a home match against Morehead State (2-0-1) on Friday night at Flames Field by a final score of 3-1. Sophomore Jasmin Carrera netted her second goal of the season in the final period, but the Eagles' three first-half scores were too much to overcome for the Flames.

Carrera's goal came at the 86:59 mark after an assist down the middle of the field from freshman Monica Ramirez, her first helper of the season.

The Flames equaled Morehead State in shots with 11, but the Eagles had nine on target compared to four for UIC.

Morehead State senior Jade Flory posted a hat trick, her first goals of the season, beginning at the 5:52 mark of the first half. Fellow senior Macy Cobb assisted on the play with a cross from the left side into the box.

Flory, the reigning Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year, scored her remaining two goals at the 27:01 and 36:01 marks, respectively. Flory transferred to Morehead State after competing two seasons at Youngstown State where she earned first-team All-Horizon League during her sophomore campaign.

UIC goalkeeper Kelly Fritz had an active day in the net as she saved six shots, bringing her yearly total up to 18.

The Flames return to action on Sunday at home against IUPUI with kickoff slated for 4 p.m. CT. Prior to the women's contest, the UIC men's soccer team will battle San Francisco at 1 p.m.
