UIC Closes Out Opening Weekend with 4-0 Loss to Iowa|

CHICAGO – The UIC women’s soccer team (0-2-0) wrapped up the opening weekend of its inaugural season with a 4-0 loss to Iowa (2-0-0) at Flames Field on Sunday. Jasmin Carrera led the Flames with four shots, while Mackenzie Fuller had three attempts.
Iowa outshot UIC 18-14 while UIC goal keepers Kelly Fritz and Ana Hernandez combined to save seven. The Hawkeye defense put up a strong front, allowing the Flames two shots on goal. Monica Ramirez had two shots in the match with her final shot missing barely above the goalpost during the final seconds of the game.
Iowa attacked quick and early, scoring their first two goals in the first ten minutes at only 31 seconds apart. Bri Toelle netted the first goal at the 8:17 mark with Aubree Larson on the assist. The second goal was scored by Cloe Lacasse at the 8:48 mark, an unassisted goal off a rebound shot.
The Hawkeyes put another shot into the net at the 62:00 mark off the foot of Melanie Pickert with Larson again on the assist. Lacasse earned her second unassisted goal of the afternoon at the 63:56 mark and finished with a match-high seven shots and two goals.
The Flames are back in action against Northwestern on Wednesday, August 27 at 7:30 p.m. CT at Lakeside Field.
