CHICAGO - The UIC women's gymnastics team recently took a day off from training to volunteer at the Union League Boys and Girls Club holiday party. For the past 12 years, the Flames have donated their time at the annual event and this year helped out at the Pilsen location on 19th Street.

Aside from playing games, the Flames helped Santa give out presents and had lunch with the kids.

"It is a fun time for all," co-head coach Peter Jansson said. "The team gets to help out but also be role models for the kids to help inspire them to do good in school and hopefully want to get a college education."

The Flames will now head home for a holiday break and return to training on Dec. 27 to start preparing for their season opener and Homecoming meet against Arizona on Jan. 11 at 5 p.m. CT.
